SPD Management / Supervisor Certification
Program Description
The SPD Management course will prepare new and current management personnel to take the CBSPD Sterile Processing Management Certification exam. A manager is responsible for providing leadership for the staff and workflow activities of the CS/SPD department or area. The manager ensures that departmental staffing is adequate. He or she is responsible to make sure that department personnel follow sterile processing and decontamination processes standards.
Other duties includes maintenance of all sterilization records within the department following current regulatory policies, weekly audits of sterilization and decontamination processes, and the provision of monthly reports. The manager will ensure adequate inventory of departmental supplies in his/r department. The successful candidate will demonstrate leadership skills and competencies in CS/SPD department.
Upon completion of this course, a certificate of completion will be provided by Martinson College to their students. This program is designed to prepare candidates to sit for The Certification Board for Sterile Processing& Distribution’s (CBSPD)Certified in Sterile Processing Management examination.
This course is designed for personnel or employees with a minimum of 24 months full-time (or equivalent part-time) experience as a hands-on SPD Supervisor or Manager. OR
A minimum of 24 months full-time (or equivalent part-time) experience in allied health (i.e. surgical technician) AND 24 months in SPD with successful completion of a Sterile Processing management course. OR
A minimum of 36 months full-time (or equivalent part-time) experience as a SPD Technician or Lead Technician AND successful completion of a Sterile Processing management course.
